Chaos Miner

Captain Dweelo, intergalactic space miner, has vowed to be the first to claim the riches of the Cave of Chaos, the deadliest mine in the known universe. Hidden under the metal wreckage upon the surface of a dark asteroid, the mine contains a massive hoard of Blaxxo Emeralds, priceless gems capable of powering starships. It is believed that many ancient beasts dwell deep within the Cave of Chaos, protecting their treasure with traps and killing machines. No one who has entered the notorious mine has ever returned, but such a record does not discourage the brave Dweelo.

In this puzzle/adventure, your goal is to collect all the emeralds, which act as the key to activating the portal between each chamber of the mine. Each portal is a one-way trip – the only way out of the mine is to pass through the entire network of portals, which will take you on a journey through confusing mazes, ancient catacombs, crazy laboratories, and alien temples. Unknown chaos awaits…

Development Notes

potionChaos Miner is a self-aware hodgepodge, based on the chaotic “mining” nature of our earliest years of testing our programming capabilities, when we were young and inexperienced. A remnant of the first game we ever sloppily attempted to develop, Chaos Miner’s whimsical spirit is kept the same; yet the visuals and mechanics have been given a much-needed overhaul. Here at Biovoltix, we believe that some parts of our past deserve a moment to shine for all the valuable lessons they taught us; and although we have done some refining, we are grateful enough to let Chaos Miner be itself and break a few of our development ideals. With this in mind, we have approached this project by placing ourselves under the same constraints we experienced almost twenty years ago. There were no magic potions or shortcuts back then, with in-game art hand-made pixel by pixel in aged software, programming kept as simple as possible, and environments restricted to simple tile sets on an arcade-style background. While styles like this are very common among our projects, this throwback takes it a step further. It is a bare-bones, free-spirited project of love, not a showcase of our talents. But as vulnerable as it is, it is ours.
